AEF

Bulldog LineupA typical picture before the commencement of AEF operations at RAF Leeming. A lineup of Bulldog aircraft that are scheduled to fly that day enables the flight crew to perform efficient preflight checks before Cadets begin to fly.
A Cadet climbs aboard a Bulldog ready to fly. Cadets who are flying wear standard issue RAF flight suits and helmets for safety aboard the aircraft in normal operation and also wear a parachute for emergencies, although it has been said that you're more likely to win the lottery than have to bail out of a Bulldog!Cadet climbing aboard
Bulldog WCadet Jamie Beattie poses over Bulldog "W". This photo well illustrates the size of the Bulldog aircraft - it can be cramped at the best of times!
Bulldog "U" taxies out to the runway from the apron holding area. Cadets are usually permitted - sometimes told! - to taxi the aircraft themselves and it is much more difficult than it looks! While taxiing, the pilot will also brief the Cadet on the operation of the radio and navigation instruments, etc.Taxi
Please note: Due to security limitations, no pictures were permitted of the cockpit area of the Bulldog.
