The Harrogate and District Access Group is a non confrontational group who meet quarterly to raise the awareness of local people to the needs of anyone who has any type of disability.
We try and hold our meeting in various locations in the area to allow every on get an opportunity to attend a local meeting . Transport is often arrange to help people attend The access group is not restricted to members, anyone can attend. You may want to come along to just one meeting to ask questions or inform us of your particular problem. We often have a council member attend the meetings. We are currently involved in a town centre audit to establish the good and bad points when travelling around the town as a disabled person.

A recent success one of our members had was to get the Eastern region of the railways to allow electric wheelchair onto the trains ( some size restrictions are in force) This is the first region to allow this and we are in touch with the rail association to see if this can spread to all the regions. This is made more difficult now that the regions are all separate companies. We will ask our national body Access for England to take up our fight .
