The Royal Pump
Rooms
Designed by Isaac Thomas Shutt
Built in 1841-42 to house a sulpher well which is
believed to be the strongest in the world. The strong
smelling water was drunk from the early seventeenth century
for medical reasons and was a great favorite with the
Victorians and Edwardians as part of their daily routine
while visiting the Spa town of Harrogate.

The Royal
Baths
Opened in July 1897 The Royal Baths provided the most
advanced centre for hydrotherapy known at that time. The
centre still offers Turkish Baths, Sauna and Massage along
with various Beauty Treatments.

The Odeon
Cinema
Recently featured on a British Stamp the Odeon Cinema in
Harrogate is one of the few remaining custom built Odeons.
Designed by Harry Weedon and built in 1936 at a cost of
£50,000 he cinema opened with the showing of "Where's
Sally". It now features four screens and has a total seating
capacity of 1054.

The Cenotaph
Built on the former pleasure gardens of the
Prospect Hotel and unveiled in September 1923. The monument
commemorates the people of Harrogate who died in the First
and later the Second World War and takes centre place in
Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Victoria Gardens
Shopping Centre
The four storey Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre was
opened to the public in November 1992. It was built on the
grounds of the old covered market hall and was inspired by
Palladio's Basilica at Vicenza. A new market hall is now
located on the lower floor while the remaining three floors
offer a wide and varied range of shops and facilities.
