British Epilepsy Association

illness, as well as informing the public about the disorder. If you would like to

Epilepsy is a condition not a disease, of the Brain. It is a condition which is not commonly understood, Seizures or Fits, are caused by a fundamental break in the electrical circuits of the Brain With around 250,000 adults and approximately 100,000 children being epileptic in the UK and 1 in every 130 people suffering from this illness, the public still treat this illness with doubt, as a sufferer myself I have experienced some of the uncertainty in people's attitudes.
Epilepsy can not be contracted in any way, it is often caused by either a head injury or by natural causes. Everyday 82 people are told they are Epileptic and with 1 in every 130 people already afflicted by this condition, we begin to see this disorder is actually more common than we think.
