5 Top Yorkshire Festivals for May 2014
May is an exciting time of year, where all sorts of new things thrive. It brings new life as baby lambs appear and frolic in fields and fresh blooms and blossoms grow in gardens and countryside. May also means lots of new opportunities to have fun, and that’s certainly true in Harrogate, and further afield in Yorkshire.
At this time of year there are festivals every week, to celebrate all kinds of things, from film to art, music, dance, food and drink. And thankfully these things thrive in Yorkshire just like nature does. So if you fancy some fun this May, check out the events that are still to come.

This festival includes a range of classes for dancers of all levels, covering dances from the tango to 40s jive, lindyhop and quickstep. A gala evening will be held on the Saturday night and an afternoon tea dance will conclude the festival on the Sunday.
2) Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival

It is a chance to head back in time and to experience the sounds of bygone eras. Here you can listen to lutenists, early style vocalist groups and the renowned harpsichordist Andreas Staier. 3) Holmfirth Film Festival
When? 23-30 May
What? A town-wide celebration of international, Hollywood and British cinema, shown in a variety of venues in this favourite West Yorkshire town and tourist hotspot. At the Holmfirth Film Festival there is something for everyone, from kids’ and family films to European art house and classic horror flicks.
4) Malton Food Lovers Festival
When? 24-25 May
What? Malton is known as a great place to find great food, and this is celebrated at the Malton Food Lovers Festival. With famous links to James Martin and dozens of local suppliers of fresh meat, vegetables, cheeses and much more, this is an event that really teases the taste buds.
