  2. ,

It’s hard to believe we are already 5 days into November, where has the summer gone, or even spring? All other seasons feel like a distant memory, yet as I sit here looking out my window, the sun is blazing and the heating in my house is blasting , I think it’s finally time to get excited about Christmas 2017.

I know some of you are thinking that it’s still far too early to start thinking about this, we’ve only just celebrated Bonfire night on the Stray, but we all know that soon enough November will be a distant memory and December will hit us like a snow storm. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not one for picking out Christmas decorations and a tree just yet, although there is something lovely about walking around Harrogate as the shops begin to show off their best window displays, Christmas candle smells and crafted wreaths, I just think it’s the perfect time to see exactly what our beautiful town has to offer in the run up to Christmas 2017. So, grab a cup of tea, that winter blanket you’ve laid out on the sofa and let’s look at what’s going on in the next few months.

12th November - The Yorkshire Christmas Shopping Spectacular at The Old Swan Hotel (Tickets available from Eventbrite)

This beautiful hotel is opening it’s doors next Sunday to those of us who are supremely organised and start their shopping early. According to Eventbrite you can get all of your Christmas shopping done under this one, majestic roof. Seeing is believing! If you’re like me and just love to stroll around a Christmas wonderland or you are indeed completing your shopping in November (much to the envy of us less organised folk) then this is the perfect place to be. Then after, why not drop into the Fat Badger for a drink and a well deserved Roast Dinner?

16th - 19th November - Harrogate Christmas Market - Montpellier Harrogate (Free Enrty)

How can one even consider forgetting about this event! I’d be surprised to find anyone who doesn’t enjoy a good Christmas Market and this is one you need to pencil onto your calendars.

This market brings a Yorkshire feel to the traditional theme, with locally sourced products and home-made treats. There is a wide selection of food, drinks and gifts as well as entertainment for all ages. Father Christmas will also be taking up temporary residence at the market for all 4 days with his own grotto. If you’re lucky, he might even bring a reindeer or two so make sure you bring some carrots! A perfect evening out for anyone, except Scrooge!

24th November - Exclusive Harrogate Tribe Christmas Night Out - Harrogate Mama hosted at Everyman Cinema (Tickets available from Eventbrite)

It’s time for something a little different now, as we turn our attentions to Harrogate Mama who is hosting an exclusive event at Everyman Cinema in support of the Harrogate Homeless Project. A percentage of each ticket sold is donated to the project and the event sounds delectable!

The cinema will host an array of guests who are at the heart of our local businesses in Harrogate, with an offering of unique Christmas gifts for everyone. Personalised jumpers from Violet, luxury winter accessories from Jewellery-Works and all things Wreaths from 4 Seasons Florists. Louise Lunn will be sharing her make-up tips and Harrogate Tipple will be setting up a perfect little section for all of you who love Gin and Rum.

This event is a must-see, make sure you get this one in the diary and grab some tickets now!

30th November to 3rd December - Country Living Magazine Christmas Fair - Harrogate International Centre

Harrogate

The international centre will be stocked to the brim with all things craft and country come the 30th November. Over 300 exhibitors will be attending the show over the course of the event and it really is a must see for all budding craft enthusiast or Christmas shoppers. Workshops will also be available to those keen knitters and anyone who loves to stitch. The tutors will work closely with you and the price for these sessions are only £3.50.

My favourite part is the Country Living Kitchen! A team of professionals will deliver and delight with an array of tempting treats to get you planning your Christmas feasts this year.

If you’re feeling fancy, you can also grab a VIP ticket giving you private lounge access, complimentary tea, coffee and snacks, along with a beautiful goody bag and above all else, avoid the ques!

16th December - The Harrogate Christmas Concert - Harrogate Convention Centre

Now, for that extra special, over the top, warm inside, Christmas feeling, you must book yourself in for an evening of music at the Harrogate Convention for the annual Christmas Concert. Filled with musicians young and old and around 300 primary school children this is sure to be a family fun event.

With special guest performances from the Halcyon Youth Choir and hopefully, a special appearance from Father Christmas (he’s very busy in Harrogate this year!) so be sure not to miss this one and make sure you wrap up, there’s nothing better than a stroll home after lots of Christmas cheer.

I look forward to seeing you all, this Christmas!
