If you are in need of a gift – whether urgently or with some time to spare – Harrogate should be able to offer you an amplitude of items. Harrogate is well known as a great shopping town, thanks to it being something of an affluent area. This is a real bonus if you are gift shopping for Christmas, birthdays or any other occasion.
So if you need some stocking-fillers or a perfect Valentine’s gift, you should certainly be able to find something suitable. But where to start? If you are not familiar with the town or unaware of all its hidden gems, here are some shops that might have the perfect gifts for you…
Flowers and chocolates
Flowers and chocolates are classic gifts, whether for a birthday or just a romantic treat. You can find some beautiful blooms at Hearts & Flowers on Otley Road, Flowers By Caine on John Street and Helen James Flowers on Station Parade. For some tasty chocs you should check out Truffles of Harrogate, also on Station Parade, Farrah’s Fine Chocolate Shop on Montpellier Hill or Hotel Chocolat on James Street.
Cards and gifts
For small gifts and accompanying cards there are plenty of shops too. Collectables on Parliament Street stocks a range of greeting cards and gift ideas, as does Send it With Love on Leeds Road. Daisy May’s in the Victoria Shopping Centre also has a large choice of cards, balloons and badges. There is also Clinton Cards on Market Place and Gift of Cards at Moorland Nurseries.
If someone special deserves something special, and perhaps sparkly, there are lots of shops in Harrogate that are happy to oblige. A quick stroll around town will reveal a number of shimmering jewellers, from well known names like Ernest Jones and Goldsmiths, both on James Street, to respected independent like G A Taylor's and antique jewellery shops like Montpellier Antiques, on Montpellier Street.
Harrogate is a fantastic place to buy arty gifts too, from simple prints and posters to celebrated paintings. For visual treats on a budget try Pictur-esque on Briggate in Knaresborough or Athena in the Victoria Shopping Centre. There are also numerous commercial galleries such as Castle Galleries on Parliament Street.
If you scour them you are bound to find some unique gifts that you just won’t find anywhere else, so it is well worth taking a look at Harrogate’s numerous charity shops. A few to visit are Oxfam on Montpellier Square, British Heart Foundation on Beulah Street and Saint Michael’s Charity Shop on Coldbath Road. The best thing about these shops is that you never know what you will find, and the fact that Harrogate is an affluent area means that you can even find some designer label gems.
Maybe you would like to get something a little different for your loved ones. If so then The Japanese Shop on Westminster Arcade could be the place to go. Here you can buy far-Eastern treats from silk kimonos to lucky cat figurines and origami gifts.
Happy Shopping from everyone at Harrogate.co.uk
