As usual the main focus of the event is the animals, with classes for cattle, sheep, pigs and horses at the heart of the action always gaining everyone’s attention. More than 1,000 cattle will be competing for the prestigious awards and for the first time in the show’s history there will be classes for British White cattle. This animal is one of the UK’s oldest breeds. Also new to the event and key to watch out for are competitions for female sheep shearers, come on ladies, roll up those sleeves!

The fashion shows will be held four times daily in the Skipton Building Society Pavilion, featuring collections from national high street names as well as from up and coming designers from the region’s colleges. Get your front row seats as soon as you can!

In the Main Ring, Lorenzo, the equestrian dynamo, will entertain the crowds each day and the “pomp and circumstance” will be provided by the Yorkshire Volunteers Band.

Elsewhere the event features:

  • One of Britain’s largest cheese and dairy shows
  • One Man and His Pig competition
  • Food Hall – with superb regional food and drink
