Harrogate Bodybuilders Raise Money for Charity
Harrogate’s very own fitness fanatics have been fighting it out in a bodybuilding event that included 30 competitors. All vying for the chance to be crowned Harrogate’s Mr and Miss Fitness 2013, the contest attracted over 500 people and managed to raise around £2000 for Yorkshire Cancer Research and Springwater school.
Apart from raising money for local charities, the event also helps to raise awareness of the health and fitness. With such a positive response, it is likely that the contest will encourage Harrogate residents to rethink their fitness routines. Luckily, there are a number of gyms and fitness centres in and around the town.
Austin Williams was crowned Mr Harrogate Fitness and Ellie Strike was named Miss Bikini. Organisers have been surprised and delighted with the popularity of the event that shows a sustained local interest for this kind of fitness. Local gymnasium Gambaru Fitness was heavily involved in supporting the competitors during their training.
Organisers predict next year’s event to be even bigger and better as people have already begun to enquire about how they can get involved. To find out more about the event and how you can get involved in fitness contests next year, visit www.gambarufitness.com.
