Harrogate events this festive season

As Halloween comes to a close, it feels like Christmas is just around the corner. Harrogate and surrounding areas have lots on offer in the run up to Christmas, so there’s lots of festive weekends to look forward to. Here’s a few events that are coming up this Winter to make a note of:


Harrogate Christmas Market
When: 17th – 20th November 2016
Where: Just off St. Mary’s Walk near Montpellier area, Harrogate town centre.
Price: Entry is free
This popular Christmas market has become a yearly occurrence and a great way to start the festive season in style. The market is for the whole family and includes live music from local artists, street musicians as well as fun fair rides! The stall holders at the Christmas market have a large range of gifts which make great Christmas presents, as well as offering produce from local and regional companies. As well as gifts and entertainment, the market also has food and drink stalls, so be sure to enjoy something tasty or a warming mulled wine… A great place to catch up with a very special guest too, Father Christmas will be stopping by for the four days as well as his reindeers!

The Harrogate Pantomime 2016 – Dick Whittington
When: 30th November – 15th January
Where: Harrogate Theatre

‘Turn again Whittington, Lord Mayor of London’ the Harrogate pantomime is back for 2016. Join Dick and his magical feline friend on their adventure from the Spa town of Harrogate to the big smoke, where the streets are said to be paved with gold. Carols by Candlelight
When: 11th December 2016, 15:30pm-16:15pm
Where: Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal

We’re back at Fountains Abbey where the most festive carol service will be occurring in the abbey itself on Sunday 11th December. Each carol singer picks up a candle which leads to an in incredible flickering of nearly 1,000 candles that light up the abbey cellarium. Hot chocolate and mulled wine are included in the festive sing-a-long to traditional Christmas carols. This is a popular one, so arrive early if you’d like a seat.
