Red Dwarf’s Holly Confirmed for First Harrogate Comic Con
2016 has started well for Harrogate’s sci-fi fans. North Lincs Tv & Film Comic Con announced on Sunday that Norman Lovett, who played Red Dwarf’s on-board computer Holly in the eponynous 90s televsion show, is set to make an appearance at Harrogate Comic Con in May at the Rossett Sports Centre.
Lovett is best-known for his role on Red Dwarf, but has also popped up on a host of other highly-rated television shows including Keeping Up Appearances and The Young Ones. A critically acclaimed comedian both on and off-screen, in 2000 he toured a highly successful stand up show with fellow Red Dwarf actor Chris Barrie and in 2008 he performed at Harrogate Theatre as part of a double header tour with his Holly counterpart, Hattie Hayridge.
The Harrogate Comic Con will also play host to a wide array of traders, showcasing comics, toys, collectables, games and more. Spaces are still open for anyone wishing to ply their wares; however, traders are encouraged to book tables as early as possible to avoid being disappointed. Already confirmed are Harrogate comic book dealer Destination Venus, charity costumeers Sentinal Squad UK, and Leeds-based fantasy author Natalie Gosner. Beymax, star of Disney’s Big Hero 6, will also be available for photo opportunities throughout the day.
Harrogate Comic Con will take place on the 7th of May at Rossett Sport’s Centre. Doors open at 10am and the event finishes at 4pm. The price of admission is just £3 for adults, £1.50 for under 16s and free for under 5s. More details can be found on their facebook page.
