A £500,000 cash boost is being put in place to help improve parking conditions at the Yorkshire Show in Harrogate. After last year’s Yorkshire Show was called off on account of rain, measures are being taken to improve the parking facilities. The significant cash injection is set to increase parking capacity by 5000 spaces.

Heavy rain has affected visitors and parking over the passed few years. Each year, thousands of visitors park their cars in the fields, compacting the ground and preventing water drainage. The new funds are being used to improve field drainage as well as build temporary roads to the event.

Organisers hope that with improved drainage, an increase in parking spaces at the Rudding Park Estate and better roads, they will not have a repeat of last year’s wash out.

This year the Yorkshire Show runs from July 9-11.
