MAN
Man was created by the special act of God in His own image and is the crowning work of His Creation. In the beginning, man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan, man transgressed the command of god and fell from his original innocence; whereby his posterity inherits a sinful nature and is under condemnation. (Gen. 1:26-28, Gen. 3; Rom. 5:12)
All men will be bodily resurrected from the dead, both the just and the unjust, to experience the eternal joy of the saved or the eternal conscious punishment of the lost. (I Cor. 15; Rev. 20:11-15; Rev. 22:12-14)
SALVATION
Salvation involves the redemption of the person through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and is offered freely to all who accept Him as Lord and Savior. Salvation includes repentance, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation is obtained by grace through faith and not by works. (Jn 1:12; Jn 3:16, Rom.10:9-10; Eph 2:8-9; Heb 9:22)
Repentance: Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God.
Regeneration: Regeneration, or new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures through faith in Christ Jesus.
Sanctification: Sanctification is the process beginning in regeneration by which the believer is set apart to God's purpose and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual perfection through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him.
Glorification: Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed in the presence of God.
SATAN
Satan (the devil) is a supernatural being actively attacking God's plans both in Heaven and on earth. By use of deception and temptation, from the time of Adam and Eve, he and the demonic angels with him have sought to keep men and women from obeying God. Today, he tries to stop people from committing their lives to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and to weaken their commitment and destroy the testimony of all sincere Christians. Though doomed to eternal hell by God, he remains a powerful enemy of God's church until the final judgment day. (Gen. 3:1-19; Luke 4:1-13, 8:11-12; II Cor. 4:3-4; I Pet. 5:8; I John 5:19; Rev. 20:10)
THE BIBLE
The Bible, 66 books in all, was verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and is inerrant in the original writings and is the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (II Peter 1:21; II Timothy 3:15-17)
TRINITY
God is revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being. (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19)
God the Father: There is only one living and true sovereign God who reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and all human history according to the purpose of His grace. He is just and might, perfect in love and wisdom. God is Father to those who become His children through faith in Jesus Christ. (Gen. 1:1; Ex. 15:11,18; Col. 1:16-17; I John 3:1-2; Rev.11:15-17)
God the Son:
A. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy spirit and born of a virgin named Mary. (Isa. 7:14; Matthew 1:20)
B. Jesus perfectly obeyed and revealed the will of God by taking upon Himself human nature and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. (Luke 22:42; II Cor. 5:21)
C. By His death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was physically raised from the dead with a glorified body. He ascended into Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is our One Mediator. (Acts 1:9-11; I Cor 15:3-4; I Tim 2:5; Hebrews 12:2; I Pet. 2:24)
D. We look forward to that blessed Hope, the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to receive us unto Himself. We shall reign with Him forever. (I Thess. 4:13-17; Rev. 22:1-5)
God the Holy Spirit:
A. The Holy Spirit enables men to understand the Scriptures. He exalts Christ, convicts of sin, and comforts the believer. (John 14:26; John 16:7-14)
B. The Holy Spirit seals the believer and bestows the spiritual gifts to them by which they serve God through His church.(I Cor. 12:3-11; Eph. 1:13)
THE CHURCH
A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. observing the two ordinances of Christ, committed to His teachings, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. (Matt. 16:18; Acts 2:47; Rom. 12:5; Rev. 1:11)
ORDINANCES: BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER
Baptism:
We believe Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the resurrection of the dead. Baptisms will be held as required. (Matt 28:19; Acts 8:36-39, Rom 6:3-5)
The Lord's Supper:
We believe the Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the Body of Christ, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming. The Lord's Supper will be served the first Sunday of each month. (1 Cor 11:23-30)
