Thursday Meals Rota
A team of some 19 groups including local churches provide regular meals each Thursday evening at the Baptist Church (Map) for those in need in Harrogate; its primary aim is simply to provide a warm meal at no cost to the guests.
The
rota of the groups involved is organised by Ernest Stephens who took over from Mrs Jean Sullivan. A copy of the current rota through to August is now available on this website.
Thanks are due to the Baptist Church for the use of their excellent facilities, and to all the volunteers who work hard to keep the project going so successfully.
The number of diners averages about 15 in winter, but can see 30 in warm weather.

Heath Lodge ariel view; click for more info Heath Lodge and Greenfield Court
Heath Lodge was originally purchased as a Home for the Elderly in 1969 - situated at 6 Pannal Ash Road, Harrogate, HG2 9AB, tel: 561741, (Map); Greenfield Court was purchased later. The Executive Committee runs both these not-for-profit homes with separate house and selection committees dealing with the day-to-day work.
Heath Lodge has space for 30 residents, Greenfield Court caters for those needing sheltered accomodation. With Social Services current policy in 2003 to keep folks in their own homes and subsidies being paid for those of an older age, waiting times at these Christian homes are becoming more acceptable.
History: Harrogate Neighbours Housing Association (1967, January 1969) chose to put their faith into practice by choosing to care for the elderly. Heath Lodge was bought for the purpose of looking after those unable to look after themselves in their own homes.
