17 May: VOX Courses: "User Involvement"
10am to 4pm at the Ripon Lifelong Learning Centre. This course will look
at how to identify opportunities for greater participation within services
and identify what can be done to overcome potential barriers including:
* practical strategies to develop the skills needed by both workers and
service users; * sources of personal power and skills available to people;
* causes of
social exclusion and * barriers that need to be overcome at organisational

22 May: Employing a Youth Worker?
Conference
at the Moat House hotel, York, about
employing a youth and children's worker.
For the
Dioceses of Sheffield, Wakefield, York, Ripon and Leeds, Durham and Newcastle.
Input is coming from Diocesan Youth Advisers, as well as youth work practitioners.
It will be an informative and practical day for clergy and parishes employing,
wanting to employ or just starting to think about employing someone in
this specialist field of ministry. It
will cover subjects such as employment regulations, managing a worker,
expectations and funding.
Cost in
the region of £15 each to include lunch and info pack. More info

- 31 May Crossfire
The 23rd annual FURY camp offered by the Group for Evangelism and Renewal
within the United Reformed Church (GEAR) in Leicestershire - open to all.
Crossfire is
described as a fun weekend under canvas (showers and all meals provided!)
in fellowship with other 14-25 year olds, with a focus upon worship, prayer
and learning how to deepen our walk with God. Further
