Christian Aid website, pleaseFriday 1 October: Christian Aid Director, Dr Daleep Mukarji, Burton Leonard
7:30pm at Harvest Evensong in the village church (Map). Dr Mukarji, director of Christian Aid is the preacher. All welcome.

Saturday 2 October: Harrogate Methodist Circuit - School of Theology
9:45am to 12noon at Trinity Methodist Church (Map). Rt Rev Dr David E Jenkins, Former Bishop of Durham will speak on Theology & Economics. More info from Rev Gordon H Lister, 3 Knox Close, Harrogate HG1 3EG (504791). Small fee to defray costs - at venue.

2pm All Saints High School, Nunnery Lane, York. The director's vision for Christian Aid and the importance of 2005, Christian Aid's 60th birthday. Drinks from 12:45pm; the day closes around 4:15pm after an act of worship. All welcome.

2 October: Quality second hand sale
10am - 1pm at St Andrew's church hall, Starbeck in aid of Wellspring.

2 October: Who is this Jesus?
7pm Showing of the film at Jennyfield Evangelical Church (Map) for those who know Jesus and those looking for answers. Films for younger children also being shown. More info from Jonathan Bond, pastor tel: 569733. Refreshments - all welcome.

8pm A practical course on the basics of Christianity for those seeking faith or renewal of faith. Sunday 31 October: Endless Praise - New Life church
10am at New Life church in the Cedar Court Hotel, next to the Stray. Endless Praise are described as a "mainly vocal" Australian worship band. All welcome to a special Sunday morning event.

31 October: Caring for Life concert
8pm at Starbeck Methodist church (Map), in aid of Caring for Life (for homeless and disadvantaged young people). With Fiona Mayo ('cello), Stephen Bonner (violin) and Alan Bolton (piano), playing Beethoven's "Archduke" trio. The recital follows the 6:30pm evening service which is a special service of remembrance of the departed.
