April: Lent and Easter services and events

27 March - 7 April: Bible Exhibition
at Woodfield Gospel Hall (Map). A large exhibition with additional special features for parties from schools and youth groups. Also: Friends and Neighbours service at 4:30pm on Sunday 2 April.

Saturday 1 April: Gloria and Hallelujah!
7:30pm at Ripon Cathedral. St John Fisher school leading a celebration of joyful music including Vivaldi Gloria and music by Bach & Handel. Tickets (£10 & £5) from St John Fisher school (887254), Pomp and Circumstance (504035) and Ripon Travel ()1765 601689).

6:30pm United Service at Bar Methodist chapel.

Monday 3 April: Churches Together mailing
One of the many planned surface mailing dates planned throughout the year as part f the service to the churches and community. More details on the Communications page.

Saturday 8 April: My Spoon
7:30pm, at Starbeck Methodist Church, (Map).  My Spoon are playing live with support band The Irrelevants; in association with United Gigs. Part of the chapel's 75th Anniversary celebrations. Tickets £4 on the door.

Wednesday 12 April: Spotlight on Easter
1:00pm at Wesley; light lucnches from 12 noon on sale. Readings, poetry and music on the theme of Easter.

14 April: Good Friday
Good Friday - the day Christians commerorate the execution of Jesus, God's Son, on the cross.  The death of Jesus is seen as the necessary and only sacrifice that God would accept in return for the wrongdoings or sins that we do.
11:30am: Service at the Cenotaph, with worship led by Churches Together in Harrogate, accompanied by Knaresborough Silver Band.

16 April: Easter Sunday
The day of the resurrection, when Jesus rose from the dead, having been sealed in a tomb after his crucifixion.  He appeared to his friends and disciples before ascending to God's side in heaven. Those who live their lives in the way God wants believe in the power of this resurrection and see God's power still at work in the world.

18 - 23 April: Easter People Scarborough: The Way of the Cross
The leadership of previous years' local convention party are planning to take a further group of mid-teenagers-plus; more details from Colin Emerson.

Sunday 23 April: St George's Day Parade
The march through town finishes with worship at Christ Church on The Stray

Wednesday 26 April: Alpha in Knaresborough
7:00pm, Chain Lane Community Centre, Knaresborough (Map). Gracious Street Methodist church launch their Alpha course with the Alpha Welcome Supper with weekly meetings at the same time, same place on Wednesdays from 3 May. More info available, tel 01423 326041

Thursday 27 April: Christian Ecology Link 'Global warming, local cooling'
7:45pm, St. Paul's URC (Map). With Rev Dr Ian White, the recently appointed Anglican Diocesan Environment Officer for Ripon and Leeds. Following the talk, dsicussion and refreshments, the meeting will reconvene for those wishing to stay for the brife AGM. Further details from George Dent, tel: 871616.

Sunday 30 April: Harrogate United Reformed Churches
6:30pm United Communion Service at West Park URC .
