Wednesday 4 October: Leeds Methodist Choir in aid of MHA
Supporting the work of Methodist Homes for the Aged. Methodist Homes are working on the development of seeking Berwick Grange in Harrogate, with the aim of offering additional facilities to improve residents' lives. 10:00am until 4:00pm, refreshments from 9:30am at the Convent, 35 Oatlands Drive (Map). A day exploring the mystery of suffering, co-facilitated by Stephanie Jenal and Linda Conroy. 14 October: Piers Lane
7:30pm at Wesley. Piano recital. 'Piers Lane's recent appearances have included recitals in Amsterdam, Auckland, Bremen, Brisbane, Melbourne, Munich, Perth, Sheffield, Stockholm, Wellington and the Wigmore Hall; as well as the piano festivals of Duszniki, Husum, Manchester, Chopin at Bagatelles in Paris, La Roque d'Antheron, Singapore and the Ruhr.'

Tuesday 17 October: Global white band day: Make Poverty History
National & local action: The GCAP worldwide ‘month of mobilisation' concludes today. Its stated aim is to engage the public, put pressure on decision-makers and build momentum for further campaigning.
Harrogate & Knaresborough Jubilee Debt Campaign AGM
7:30pm, Friends Meetings House. With main speaker Valentine Sakala from Malawi who will talk to us about Debt, debt cancellation and related issues, from an African perspective. A brief AGM will follow.

18 October: Jurassic Ark? Fossils, Dinosaur Bones and the Bible
7:30pm at Jennyfield Evangelical Church (Map). Professor Andy MacIntosh, Leeds University, follows on from his talk in March looking at the timeline aspect of the fossils which is a request by several who attended his last visit. 19 - 21 October: Christian Resources Exhibition, Harrogate
10:00am - 5:00pm (4:30pm Saturday) at the Yorkshire Events Centre, (Map). 'Resourcing church leaders in all aspects of Christian life'; in addition to a wide range of Christian products, missions, organisations and services, all three days are packed with workshops and events, including performances by Christian rock bands thebandwithnoname and The Steels. 29 October: Bible Sunday; Bible Society, 8:32 campaign
2006 theme is 'Making Bible Poverty History' to provide Bibles across the world. The Bible Society website also offers notes on preparation for activities to commemerate the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act 200 years ago, on 25 March 2007
