BUILDaBEAT,
Tetrafide's new school show, is fun creative and energetic. From detailed choreographed
routines to mobile drums and Latin instruments, the BUILDaBEAT program is designed
to be highly involving and accessible to audiences to the point where the students
become an integral part of the music.
BUILDaBEAT demonstrates a range of instruments, beginning with body and vocal percussion, garbage and household items, through to traditional and world percussion instruments. One of the aims of BUILDaBEAT is to demonstrate simple instruments and concepts that are accessible to students of differing musical capabilities. The end result is that both teachers and students are exposed to ideas that can be used long after BUILDaBEAT is over.
If requested, the concert can be followed by a one-hour workshop, led by Genevieve Wilkins, lecturer at the University of Western Australia's School of Music. The end result of the workshop is a unique compositional exercise where the students create their own body percussion piece.
The performance is an awesome display of some of Australia's finest musicians, showing their high level of skill and musicianship in an educational and fun way.
