A red cross apron, complete with wartime blood splatters, is one of the items you can inspect during the museum’s ‘wartime object handling sessions’
You can touch and feel and smell them – this is a real chance to experience history for all ages.
The red cross apron has been donated by Jill Wilkinson, Courthouse Curator, and belonged to her Auntie Alice, born on 12th October 1890. In 1914 at the outbreak of WW1, Alice joined the Red Cross and served throughout. After the war, Alice, like many other women of her generation, never married.
FREE but admission charges apply.
