We have recently formed an RSPB Local Group within the district of Harrogate. This group is open to everyone who shares our interest in birds and the environment and wants to help and enjoy wildlife. You do not need to be a member of the RSPB to join the group, but we hope that you will be inspired to join the national RSPB, the largest conservation charity in Europe. Unlike other RSPB Local Groups we do not wish to separate into Wildlife Explorers (under 12s), Phoenix (teenagers) or an adult group and intend to hold meetings appropriate to all age groups, sometimes together, sometimes separately.

Our aim is to run a programme of meetings and field events which will be fun and educational, useful and practical. Some of the things we might cover include bird watching trips, country walks, badger watches, practical conservation tasks and wildlife identification sessions. Already we have plans to help manage a local nature reserve where we can encourage wildlife to thrive.

If you think you would like to join in then why not turn to the membership page. In return we will endeavour to provide an exciting indoor and outdoor programme of meetings and activities and a quarterly newsletter. If you would like any further information or queries, then why not contact one of us and we will be very willing to help. We look forward to hearing from you.

The RSPB aims to take all reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its volunteers and staff as well as children and other vulnerable young people attending its activities. It has adopted set procedures for the appointment of staff and volunteers who work closely with young people and established guidelines for them to work to when organising events, wherever they are held.
