ow It Came To Be
The jerry green foundation trust was set up by Mr Jerry Green to care for stray and unwanted dogs. It all came about because of a golden cocker spaniel called Rusty. Throughout his life he had been a loving companion of his owner, so when he died Jerry Green set up the first animal sanctuary.

He believed that far to many dogs were been put to sleep for unnecessary reasons. He then decided to use his personal fortune to set up the JERRY GREEN FOUNDATION TRUST. Sadly, on 3rd February 1968 he died having given all his time and energy to making his plans a success. These efforts have made it possible to open 4 more animal sanctuaries and re-home around 23000 dogs.

The main objectives of the trust are
- To care for and protect stray and unwanted dogs and place them in good homes where they are subsequently visited by our welfare officers.
- To care for any dog willed to the Trust for the rest of its life, unless the owner wishes it to be placed in a good home.
- To prevent unnecessary breeding and reduce the number of unwanted dogs being born and often disposed of to doubtful sources. The Trust vigorously supports a policy of spraying on veterinary advice.
- To prevent the risk and spread of disease. All dogs coming into our care are fully inoculated .
- To report all cases of known cruelty and investigate where necessary.
- To campaign for the abolition of live animals being used for the purpose of medical research.
- Not to put any animal to sleep unless certified to be incurably ill. This will then be done by the Trusts veterinary surgeon humanely and painlessly.
