Oxfam GB
 
Oxfam GB is a charity whose trustees are legally responsible for all the organisation's activities under the Charities Acts. The Director of Oxfam is the Chief Executive of the charity. He is responsible to Trustees for the management of Oxfam.

Founded
1942 (Oxford Committee for Famine Relief) to help relieve famine and sickness in Nazi-occupied Greece and Belgium. Oxfam GB is an affiliate of Oxfam International, the family of Oxfams founded in 1995, sharing common values and increasingly working together.

Objectives
Oxfam GB is a development, campaigning, and relief organisation dedicated to finding lasting solutions to poverty and suffering world-wide. Oxfam supports poor communities in more than 70 countries, and works to change unjust policies that limit people's potential. Oxfam believes every human being is entitled to a life of dignity and opportunity; working with local partners, other organisations, volunteers and supporters to help this become a reality.

Activities

funding emergency relief, followed by long-term rehabilitation, and local community groups' own development projects.
using its experience to bring to the attention of international decision makers the effects of global policies on world poverty.
raising awareness of its concerns by undertaking research into the causes and relief of poverty; providing resources for the general public and those in formal education; and by publicising its activities.
bringing direct to the public handcrafts and quality foods enabling producers and workers to receive a fair return for the product they grow or make.
raising funds from individuals; charitable trusts; other members of Oxfam International; and UK Government, EU and UN agencies.
