What is a Performance Centre?
· A number of Clubs grouping together with a leading Club with the aim of providing a centre for excellence in the locality and structured coaching/strategies to increase participation of sport in the area. It is not just one club
· The individual clubs retain their total independence but join together in the common aims.
What benefit will local badminton club get from the performance centre?
Increase participation in Badminton in the area
Healthy leagues which are not declining
Lists of local badminton clubs to be provided to schools and juniors coached with details of
· Number of members
· Nights when played
· What divisions teams in
· Subscriptions
The way to guarantee to bring benefit to your club./league is to help!!!
What help can you give?
Join the committee there is an enormous amount of work to do during the set-up period.
Join the Harrogate Performance Centre group: a Performance centre is not one club, it is a consortium of Clubs, we are hopeful of forming links with York university and Easingwold Badminton Club. Ties have already been made with Ashville.
Spread the word of what we are trying to do
What benefits will HRC get?
Increase membership
Increase in junior members
Increase in Badminton participation in the area
Facilitating and delivering a top class structured coaching program that is directed at all levels and all ages
Having programs in place to attract players back to the sport and attracting new adult players from the pay and play facilities.
There was mention of £10,000 coming into HRC: how will I benefit from that will our club get a share?
If we are successful we should get £10k per year from B of E for two years. The condition of the grant is it must be spent for the benefit of badminton development both at grass roots and performance level
The money will be needed to set up a full time coach for the performance centre He will be responsible for;
· Encaging with the local Schools to increase participation through
· Coaching sessions in the schools
· Coaching sessions within HRC (or other clubs if possible)
· Arranging competition
· Administering the scheme
The PC has to be self financing
There are other grant sources we are exploring;
we will need financial help with facilities and shuttles.
