HARROGATE RACQUETS CLUB
Firs Road, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England HG2 8HA.

The Harrogate Racquets Club (HRC) opened the present Table Tennis room in January 2003; this was part of the continuing development of HRC. Previously at the club, table tennis was played on the second squash court.
The club recognized the need for a permanent Table Tennis room; this was created using under utilized space upstairs in the clubhouse and fitted with suitable lighting and décor.
Five years ago the club had two teams playing in the Harrogate and District League; we now have over 30 Table Tennis members playing in seven teams in divisions 2 and 3 of the Harrogate League. This makes HRC one of the largest clubs in Harrogate playing table tennis in the Harrogate league. The teams play matches on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday evenings during the season September to March.
Because the room is dedicated to Table Tennis members and visitors can play all year round during the day or on match free evenings; including the weekends.
Having finished last season with 5 teams playing in divisions 2,3 and 4 in the Harrogate
Table Tennis league; we have started this season with 7 teams playing in divisions
2 and 3.
The increase in teams was mainly due to the increased membership coming from
the Harrrogate Wanderers club which used to play at the pavillions at the Cricket
ground which unfortunately burned down during the summer.
The League has unfortunately now been reduced to 3 divisions as a few teams with
drew from the league reducing numbers. Our seven teams play in the second and third
divisions.
So far this season our teams are doing well with all teams being in the
top two thirds of the two divisions. Our top 3 players are also in the top four of
the averages table.
The Knaresborough Charity Cup, which is a handicapped competition with all teams being entered, also got under way last week with at least three of our teams going through to the next round, the "D" team drew 371 points to 371 creating a very exciting match and now have to play a return match; we wish them Good Luck.
