HARROGATE CAMCORDER GROUP

50 Years of Film MakingJUBILEE YEAR 1950 - 2000

Formed fifty years ago the society has undergone considerable change in recent years to encompass modern technology in present day film making. Now predominately camcorder orientated the club is able to project members films on its highband video projector. We have members filming on all the present day video formats but still have a small number of enthusiasts using super 8 cine.
The society meets from September through to the end of May and has a wide and varied programme of events. Technical evenings, lectures , competitions and film making sessions as well as visits to and by other clubs, form the major part of the clubs activities. Recent visitors have included the highly acclaimed Westcliffe Cine and Video Society and clubs nationwide have been invited to submit compilations of their productions for our entertainment and assessment.
The club is keen to encourage new members no matter what age or sex. The ownership of a camcorder is not a prerequisite, as we are always pleased to welcome any one interested in this fascinating hobby, be it behind or in front of the cameras. The 2000/2001programme of events will be published at the beginning of September and will appear on these pages. It will also be available through public libraries and tourist information offices within the Harrogate area.
