HOW TO ENTER BIRSTWITH SHOW
1. Prior to Entry Night
Look at the Schedule of Classes and decide which you would like to enter. There is no limit to how many classes you can enter, so why not try a few? We are really very keen to see as many people as possible 'having a go', so don't worry if you've never done this before.
Complete an Entry Form for the classes you would like to enter. Please remember that each person must use a different Entry Form. If you run out of space on the Entry Form, use another one as well! As long as you give us the second Entry Form at the same time as the first one, you will not need to complete your personal details at the top of the second one.
2. On Entry Night (Friday 18th July 2008)
Bring your completed Entry Form(s) along (but no exhibits) to St. James's Church Hall, Birstwith on Friday 18th July 2008. We will be present from 7pm to 8pm to receive Entry Forms and entry fees. It doesn't take long - if your Entry Form has been completed correctly, it will take no time.
Postal entries may be made if it is not convenient to come along on Entry Night, but these MUST be received (with entry fees) by Sam Parker by Saturday 19th July 2008. Sam's address is detailed on the Entry Form.
3. Day Before Show Day (Friday 25th July 2008)
The Exhibition Marquee will be open for Exhibitors to stage their exhibits from 7pm to 10pm on Friday 25th July 2008. When you arrive, you will be handed a card for each of your exhibits. The card should be folded in half and pinned alongside your exhibit with your name face downwards. In addition each exhibitor will be given a card that should be kept. You will be given drawing pins etc. if these are required (for example, for paintings and photographs) and you will be directed to the area where your exhibit(s) should be staged. Helpers will be on hand if you need further guidance. We employ overnight security to minimise the risk of loss or damage to exhibits, although naturally we cannot take any liability.
The Society will take reasonable care and precautions to safeguard Exhibitors' entries and equipment, but regrets that it cannot accept any responsibility for any loss or damage.
4. On Show Day (Saturday 26th July 2008)
If you haven't already staged your exhibit(s), the Exhibition Marquee will be open again for staging from 8am to 10am, but after that it needs to be closed for the judging to take place. The administration arrangements are as described in the paragraph above.
The Exhibition Marquee will be opened to the public for viewing around 1.30pm (from 1.00pm for disabled people). You can wander along to see whether you have won any prizes (money) or possibly an award (a cup or a trophy).
All prize monies can be collected from the Secretary's Tent in front of the Exhibition Marquee from about 3.30pm (an announcement will be made over the PA system). Money not collected on Show Day can be applied for in writing to the Treasurer. Prize money not collected within 14 days will be deemed a donation to the Society. Trophies are awarded at Prize Giving, which takes place at approximately 4pm in the Exhibition Marquee.
Exhibits must not be removed until after Prize Giving. Exhibits should be collected by 5pm as the Exhibition Marquee needs to be cleared soon after Prize Giving. The Society cannot accept responsibility for uncollected exhibits.
5. Show Day Entries
" Dog Show
Entries taken on the Show Field from 12 noon at the RSPCA Tent.

6. After Show Day

Trophy Steward: Mrs J Platt 2 Nidd Rise, Birstwith, Harrogate, HG3 3AP Tel: 01423 772698
At the time of receiving a trophy or a cup, you will be given details about how to get it engraved with your name (which will be done at our expense).
RULES & REGULATIONS
Please read "General Information" and "How to Enter" in this Schedule.
Each Section may have specific rules or information written at the beginning of that section. Exhibitors must comply with all the rules.
GENERAL
1. Horticulture exhibits must be the Exhibitor's property two months prior to the Show with the exception of plants entered as hanging baskets or containers, in which case these plants may be purchased prior to planting. All other entries must be the Exhibitor's own work.
2. No re-entry of prize-winning exhibits is permitted, except in the Horticulture Section.
3. Any infringement of the rules automatically disqualifies the Exhibitor's entry and renders the Exhibitor liable to forgo any prize money to which they may have been entitled.
4. For children's work, the age of the Exhibitor should be clearly stated in years and months. Age will be taken into consideration when judged. Exhibits not bearing an age will be judged as being the maximum age for that class. (Names must be on the back of the exhibit only).
5. Children's work must be the competitors' own work. If, in the judge's opinion, there has been excessive parental or other adult input towards a child's exhibit, the judges may mark down that exhibit accordingly.
6. In Section H (Cookery & Wine Making), an Exhibitor must not make more than one entry in any particular class from the same batch of cooking or wine.
7. All exhibits in Section D (Flower Arranging) must be the unaided work of the Exhibitor, but may be pre-arranged and brought to the Marquee complete.
8. The decision of the Judges shall be final.
9. Where there are three entries or less in a class, the Judges reserve the right to award one or two prizes only.
10. Exhibits not conforming to the Schedule rules will be disqualified.
11. Any technical objection is to be handed to the Secretary in writing by 3.30pm on Show Day accompanied by a fee of £1, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
12. The sale of Raffle Tickets on the Show Field is not permitted except by prior written permission of the Committee and consent will be subject to such rules as the Committee may decide in its absolute discretion.
13. Admission to the Show Field: No person, including any performer, exhibitor or competitor will be admitted to the Show Field without displaying the official entry ticket. Exhibitors making entries to the value of £5.00 or more will receive a free Admission Ticket which must be worn on entry to the Show Field.
14. All Trade Stand and Stallholders must comply with the conditions laid down by the Committee.
