disabilities, registered with North Yorkshire Health Authority as a Nursing Home
and with North Yorkshire Social Services Department as a Small residential Home.

rooms. The House is situated off the Otley Road, on Swinton Court Estate, close to shops, churches and public transport. |
| Staffing: | To ensure that each individual receives the care and attention he/she
requires, a high nursing and care staff/ patient ratio is operated 24 hours a
day. Responsibility for maintaining standards lies with the House manager, head

| Life in the Home: | It is the Association's policy to offer care for life, and to encourage
everyone to lead as full a life as their disability will allow. Staff respect
residents' privacy; 'rules' is a little used word, however, individuals are
expected to be considerate to the needs and wishes of others. Visitors are
always welcome. |
| Admissions - Trail Period: | Prospective residents are encouraged to visit for a trail period of one/
two weeks, possibly on the respite care, so that a mutually agreed decision can
be reached regarding a long stay placement. In addition to any Local Authority
contract, each resident signs an agreement / contact with the Association, which
includes a copy of the Patients' / Residents' Rights and Complaints Procedure.
The upper age limit for admission is normally 65. |

standard, but, for those who wish to share, twin - bedded rooms can be made

lounge, a hairdressing salon, and a conservatory leading to an enclosed
courtyard. A laundry service is provided, but individuals who wish to undertake
this themselves, a domestic machine is available. |
| Physiotherapy: | This is available one day per week, but individual prescriptive therapy
programmes are pursued by care staff on other days. These are regularly
reviewed as part of the continuing monitoring of care plans. |
| Chiropody: | Visits are every 6-8 weeks and appointments can be arranged by prior
notice, but the service is not concluded in the fee quoted. |
| Catering: | Meals are served in both dining rooms, but those individuals wishes to take
meals in their rooms may do so. Residents are encouraged to assist in the
planning of menus, and special diets are available for those who need them. Tea
/ coffee, soft drinks and snack making facilities are available at all times. A
licensed bar is situated in the middle lounge. |
